【GMU Media】 China–Solomon Islands Medical Cooperation Boosts Development of Coronary Intervention Te
Xinhua News Agency, Sydney, November 6 — From Honiara: With the support of the 4th China Medical Team to Solomon Islands, local doctors in the capital Honiara successfully completed two coronary stent implantation procedures on November 6. These are the 10th coronary intervention procedures carried out jointly since June this year, marking a leap from “zero cases” to the routine performance of minimally invasive coronary treatments in the country.

The surgeries were conducted at the China-assisted Comprehensive Medical Centre of the National Referral Hospital, where the commissioning of the centre and its standardized cardiac catheterization laboratory has ended the long-standing challenge of patients needing to travel overseas for such treatment. Through a model combining “on-table surgical guidance, postoperative case review, and nursing training,” the China Medical Team has systematically trained local medical staff, providing patients with an efficient and convenient one-stop diagnostic and treatment service.

According to Zhao Xueke, the leader of the 4th China Medical Team to Solomon Islands, the medical centre built with China’s assistance not only fills the gap in advanced medical facilities, but also delivers multi-dimensional upgrades in medical hardware, professional capability, and accessible services. China–Solomon Islands medical cooperation will continue to deepen, safeguarding the health and well-being of local people.
